Initially, we strongly encourage prospective clients to visit our creative and fully- functioning kitchen showroom, where they can see diverse examples of our work. Then, if the client chooses, we schedule a home visit to assess the scope of the project. There, we will discuss three basic elements which will serve to guide, influence and help us formulate the ideal design: We listen carefully to our client’s specific needs; we assess the unique features and constraints of their existing space; and we systematically help our clients establish a budgetary range in order to stay within the financial target.

Upon establishing the client’s budgetary window, we then ask for a retainer in order to begin the design process. The amount of the retainer is based on the scope of the project and may be deducted from the overall cost of the job.

The design process begins with an in-depth interview where we discuss everything from ergonomics to product choices and color palettes. Then we focus on family dynamics and lifestyle. How do other family members use the space? Who does the cooking? Do you entertain? How does traffic flow through the space? While we welcome our clients’ own ideas and research, we find that most avail themselves of our progressive, out-of-the-box thinking, and often defer to us for guidance. A series of appointments follow during which time the design is adjusted as necessary until the client is completely satisfied.

The final phase is project management. From the pre-installation meeting with sub-contractors to the completion of the project, our aim is to implement every last detail as per design in a timely manner. Ultimately we hope our clients will feel that working with Maine Kitchen Design was a pleasure in every way.

Smaller Projects
